Integrative and Functional Nutrition
My approach of care is deeply rooted in a Functional Medicine model, which means an individualized, patient-centered, and science-based approach. I will be addressing root causes of diseases rather than a symptoms-based care. When I see you, I genuinely care, listen, empathize and be present to your health needs. Together we will look at your whole health history and dive deep into everything about you. Your intuition will be a guide for me to learn about your story and to understand the “puzzle pieces” of your health.
Nutrition isn’t just about eating foods that are typically considered healthy.
It isn’t about restriction and leaving behind all the pleasure that you have with food. Nutrition is about learning to nourish our body in a healthy way. It’s about making small, progressive, and good choices that works for your unique body, lifestyle, and needs. Improvement on lifestyle and spiritual well-being are included in the process.
Beyond meal plans and weight loss
I’m all about investing in your sustainable and healthy change. We will develop the foundational skills that you need to become an expert for your own health journey. Low body weight may not always mean healthy. Therefore, we avoid hyperfocusing on the weight scale or clothes sizes. Those are all noises and distractions from reaching the true healthy you.
Nutrition for everybody
Nutrition is not just for specific groups of people with particular cultural backgrounds but for everybody—beyond the typical Eurocentric nutritional approach. We are unique individuals who can’t be fitted into a specific mold of dietary concept and expectations. It’s about celebrating our differences and uniqueness.
Cultural awareness in nutrition
Each treatment protocol is designed with considerations of your cultural background, lifestyle, and personal beliefs. Growing up in a Southeast Asian culture, I was richly exposed to different food ingredients, traditional health practices, and social expectations about health. I understand the struggles of staying healthy and choosing the right food ingredients while having a limited source of ingredients and food choices around me. Each culture also has its own health fears/myths and I’m here to provide you with science-based answers to those. We’re all about marrying your cultural influences and functional nutrition. Making your optimal version of a healthy lifestyle and diet.
